Ghost of Yotei Update 1.010 – Patch Overview
Following last week’s patch that fixed coin count errors and the issue where Atsu’s horse would disappear after being summoned, update 1.010 aims to further stabilize gameplay performance and eliminate critical bugs that disrupted player progress.
Although Sucker Punch has not yet released the official patch notes, early community reports suggest that the update focuses on technical fixes rather than new gameplay features. Players should not expect additions such as New Game+ or major content changes with this patch.
Known Issues Still Affecting Players
Despite previous fixes, some problems persist in Ghost of Yotei, even after installing update 1.009. According to player feedback, the following issues are still under review:
- Wolf Blade does not switch guards on different sword kits.
- If Atsu dies and respawns at camp, players may be teleported back to the Red Crane Inn unexpectedly.
- Occasional crashing issues during open-world exploration.
- A game-breaking respawn loop bug where the player reappears inside a spike pit after dying with the horse — rendering the game unplayable.
- Entering water incorrectly triggers the oxygen meter even when Atsu is not submerged.
- Dens remain locked at 50 coins, preventing progression.
- “Kusarigama’s Regret” mission causes controller malfunction.
- Traversing the Yotei Grasslands may cause input delays or controller lag.
- “The Last Brother” bounty bug – player cannot interact with key NPCs or spawn bounty hunters, blocking mission progress.
- Shrine completion indicator not updating correctly.
- Final Epic Box failing to spawn in some regions.
Community-Reported Game-Breaking Bug
One of the most severe issues, reported by multiple players, occurs during the armor upgrade sequence at the Ishikari forge. After skipping the cutscene mid-way, the game can become locked in a permanent black-bordered screen, displaying the upgrade UI repeatedly while disabling all controls.
Even restarting the game or reloading previous saves does not resolve the issue. The only temporary workaround, according to player reports, is to fast travel to a different quest area, though returning to the forge re-triggers the same problem.
Player Reports on the “Encounters in the Wild” Mission
Another serious issue involves the mission “Encounters in the Wild.” A PS5 player reported that during a cutscene featuring a bear encounter, their character becomes completely immobilized — unable to move, fast travel, or interact. Reinstalling the game and rebuilding the PS5 database did not fix the problem.
This bug appears to occur if the player closes the game during the cutscene sequence with the bear cub and reopens it afterward, resulting in a permanently frozen state.
What to Expect Next
At the time of writing, Sucker Punch has not published the complete patch notes for update 1.010. Based on the studio’s past release pattern, the detailed changelog is expected within 24 hours of the patch rollout.
Until then, players are encouraged to share feedback on persistent issues after installing the update. The development team continues to investigate community reports, prioritizing fixes for game-breaking bugs and controller responsiveness problems.
Current Workaround and Developer Notes
Unfortunately, for the respawn glitch and black-screen issues, there is no permanent fix available at the moment. Affected players are advised to restart the game or begin a new save file to continue progress.
Sucker Punch has acknowledged the widespread frustration and confirmed ongoing internal testing to address these critical bugs in an upcoming hotfix.
