Fans of Pokémon Legends: Z-A are celebrating as The Pokémon Company rolls out a new update that finally makes Mega Stone rewards in Ranked Battles much easier to earn. Players can now unlock key Mega Evolutions faster and without the intense grind that Season 1 demanded.
Easier Mega Stone Rewards Arrive in Season 2
In the official update, The Pokémon Company confirmed that starting Season 2 of Ranked Battles, players will receive Greninjite at Rank Y and Delphoxite at Rank S.
Previously, Greninjite required hitting the much tougher Rank K, while Delphoxite wasn’t even available.
This change means even casual players will be able to grab Mega Stones after just a few matches, making Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Ranked Battle mode more accessible and rewarding than before.
Community Applauds the Simpler Progression
Players have long voiced frustration about Mega Stone rewards being locked behind high-ranked online battles. The Kalos starter trio Fennekin, Froakie, and Chespin — each have stunning new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but the only way to unlock them was through Ranked Battle rewards, not story progression.
Now, even if you’re not a competitive player, earning these Mega Stones is no longer a painful grind. You can gain rank points for both battling and in-battle actions, meaning even losses help you progress.
Get Greninjite and Delphoxite With Minimal Effort
In Season 2, you’ll likely be able to get Greninjite after a single Ranked Battle — win or lose.
Players can also jump multiple ranks in one session by performing well, quickly reaching Rank S for Delphoxite.
Game Freak has also adjusted the rank point distribution system, further speeding up the leveling process and rewarding consistent play rather than perfection.
What to Expect in Season 3
If the trend continues, Season 3 will likely introduce Chesnaughtite at a similar rank to Delphoxite and make Delphoxite even easier to earn. The Pokémon Company confirmed that Mega Stones will be reissued frequently in upcoming seasons, giving everyone multiple chances to complete their Mega Evolution collection.
This new approach encourages more players to try Ranked Battles without the fear of endless grinding — a big win for casual fans.
Why This Update Matters
This update is being hailed as one of Game Freak’s most player-friendly moves for Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
You can now collect all three Mega Stones — Greninjite, Delphoxite, and Chesnaughtite — in just a few sessions, and then step away from Ranked Battles if you wish.
It’s a refreshing change that balances reward accessibility with competitive excitement, making Season 2 a great time to dive back into Z-A.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Season 2 Launch Date
Season 2 officially begins Wednesday, November 5, bringing faster rank progress, new rewards, and a smoother Ranked Battle experience.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A continues to dominate sales charts, having sold nearly six million copies in its opening week. IGN rated it 8/10, calling it “Game Freak’s best 3D Pokémon adventure yet — with a fun world, strong storytelling, and a revitalized battle system.”
